Calcium signaling in excitable cells
Current Research Interests: Regulation of calcium release through Ryanodine receptors/calcium release channels from muscle, brain and endocrine cells. Current studies include, among others, the characterization of how cellular redox state regulates the activity of these channels, and how the calcium signals generated by these calcium release channels affect gene expression in neuronal cells, as well as memory acquisition and consolidation in young and aged rodents and in a rodent model of Alzheimer’s disease.
