Sergio Lavandero
Dr. Sergio Lavandero is a very well-established Chilean scientist, who has achieved both national and international recognition. Currently, he is Full Professor with positions in two academic units (Faculty of Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sciences & Faculty of Medicine) of the University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. Also Dr. Lavandero holds an Adjunct Professor position in the Cardiology Division, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas, Texas). He is Director and Principal Investigator of the FONDAP Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases (ACCDiS) and Principal Investigator of the Center for Molecular Studies of the Cell (CEMC) and Vicepresident of the Chilean Academy of Sciences.
He is author of 308 publications in ISI journals, 6 book chapters, 29 articles in national magazines and 5 patents.
His recent productivity (2017-to date) reaches 89 publications. According to DATACIENCIA (Dimensions of National Scientific Production) of the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Dr. Sergio Lavandero is the University of Chile researcher with the highest number of publications. His research has been supported by FONDECYT, Anillo, FONDAP and international collaboration projects. He is a member of the editorial committees of the journals Circulation, American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology & Metabolism and Cell Death & Diseases and has been an ad hoc reviewer for prestigious international journals and national and international agencies that support scientific research.
Dr. Lavandero also teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has contributed to the training of 212 researchers and/or professionals. 70 new academics/researchers

*President and Counselor of Biology in the Superior Council of Sciences, CONICYT
*President of the Chilean Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
*Member of the Evaluation Council and Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Chile.
*Currently he is a corresponding member and Vice President of the Chilean Academy of Sciences.
